Here’s an exceptional piece of American history—a rare C. Sharps & Co. Pepperbox quad-barrel pistol, chambered in .22 and dating to the Civil War and Wild West eras. These distinctive four-barrel pistols were a favored pocket gun for personal protection during the 19th century, and originals like this are getting tougher to find in good, correct condition.

This example is in good condition, with attractive patina on the brass frame and the original wood grips showing honest wear. Most notably, the rifling—in the form of crisp valleys and grooves—is still present in the barrels, which is very uncommon for a pepperbox of this age. Please see the photos for a close-up look at the rifling and overall condition.

Mechanically, the action functions properly, with the barrels rotating and the hammer cocking as it should. This Sharps Pepperbox is a fantastic collector’s item—perfect for any historical Old West or Civil War display.

As always, we have inspected and function checked this piece, but have not test fired it. If you have any questions about this fascinating C. Sharps & Co. quad-barrel pepperbox, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
