This is the real thing: the ac code is Walther's factory code, and the '44 dates it to 1944, the height of the war. It wears its original Waffenamt (eagle/proof) acceptance stamps and the correct red-swirl bakelite grips of late-war production. The P38 was the pistol that replaced the Luger as the German service sidearm—the first successful locked-breech, DA/SA service pistol, and a design so ahead of its time it shaped handguns for decades after.
 
A matching wartime Walther-made P38 with intact proofs is a genuine collector piece and a cornerstone of any WWII German arms collection. It comes with two magazines.
 
The finish shows honest wartime-and-service character with all markings crisp and readable. We have visually inspected and function checked this pistol, but it has not been test fired.
